Brazil-born Luiza Carvalho has been an active member of the OverClocked ReMix community since 2003, creating music and remixes under the name LuIzA (not to be confused with LuLzA). Her interest in video games, as well as music, began when she received her first video game console, the NES, at the age of three. Since then, she has been driven by her passion for music — pausing the game to listen to the music, joining local rock bands as a teen, and losing sleep in order to work on music while attending engineering school, when she started doing soundtracks for games.
Luiza’s influences are as diverse as her music. She draws inspiration mianly from post-grunge and ska-punk music of the late 1990s and early 2000s, as well as a variety of other styles. Currently, she’s studying composition and audio production at Berklee College of Music, where she’s also part of the Video Game Music Choir. She hopes to discover new ways, new styles, and new techniques to make surprising music, whether she’s remixing existing songs or writing her own.
